Jill's journal entry on Jan 23rd:
My Favorite Sport is fitball! I wuntz played it with my family? I was so good!! I was the best! Even if they wher faster, I wud tag them!
She WAS Awesome! We had a family Turkey Bowl at Thanksgiving and she was Miss Speedy going after whoever was trying to score.
I love her confidence. The other day we were all singing a song together and she told me "Oh, this is the part of the song I'm really good at. Listen!"
You're awesome, Jill!
And one last journal entry because it makes me happy:
On Friday I had a playdate! On Saturday it was my mom's birthday. And her wish was going on a bike ride! On Sunday my family went to cherch. And on Monday we went on a bike ride agin!
Peter recently wrote his favorite outdoor activity was to go for family bike rides on the Tobacco Trail. Yeah! Victory! The kids have been riding bikes everyday after school, even when it freezing, until it's dark outside. Does a Momma good to see! It's so wonderful that they're getting old enough to play outside by themselves while I make dinner or do something inside. Jill's like a little mother to Peter and especially Lucy, making sure she stays away from the street and getting toys for her to keep busy. They're all making a good little team, and they of course never squabble and always share:)

But we could not heer Santa Clos. And the raders bells. In the morning me and my brother saw a sine where the presents were. It read "Do not enter." But I reckt it done! There were tons of presints under the tree. Me and my brother started diging in. But our parents told us to stop. So then we tock torns. We all said Thank you for our presents.

Three Cards
Jillian has started what I call the three card program for Peter. She wants to help him on his way to reading so she's writing one word of three note cards each week and having him practice the words. The first words she tried he knew so she's branching out. His words this week are brother, sister and black. Last week they were three, ten and five. Kind of random and funny. I'm not sure if she was motivated by the desire to help him (I like to think she was) or the desire to use some of my crisp new note cards. I admit I am drawn to blank note cards as well. So many possibilities. If she was motivated by the cards, she knew just the tactic to get me to let her mark them up. I usually prefer to just keep them blank.

A Bully Afternoon
I've just watched the Call the Midwife Christmas special so that's where the "bully" came from.
We had the most wonderful afternoon. Jillian came bursting through the door from school asking "Do we have an internet? If we do, my teacher said we can watch something neat on it." I am still in the dark as to the details but I loved that she asked if we had an internet.
We went to the park at the church across from the neighborhood and had a wonderful time practicing bike riding and playing on the playground. Peter got a new bike for Christmas, that we were way more excited to give him than he was to receive, and is getting the hang of riding it fast around the corners. His favorite game is to chase/follow Jillian. (Her bike is much heavier and doesn't have training wheels so she goes much faster right now.) The other night we went to the same flat parking lot and was cruising and singing a song she made up called "I am as fast as a rocket ship." I tried to burn the image in my mind for safe keeping.
The weather today was gorgeous, the perfect reprieve in a chilly (relatively) winter. We were still going strong at 6 or so but we decided to come home and start making dinner/practicing piano/etc. The other thing that was fun about the playground was that Peter wanted to play ball with me, for a long time too! I'm always trying to get him to play catch but he's not usually interested and when he is, it doesn't last long. Today throwing the ball with him was so fun!

A Winter Break
Another one of Jill's journal entries
For my winter break I went to my grandmas house. She lives clos. We had so much fun. We selobrated Jesus Burth.
So grateful she understood that last bit, if not yet to the full importance it holds for humanity.
